Gray Malin Inspired Backyard Lawn Party

A few years ago we had the pleasure of having our home featured in the Gray Malin Lifestyle section and it was such a treat! We sent in photos of our home and Gray gifted us four pieces of our choosing to showcase how we would style his work in our home. As a thank you, I chose a few of my favorite pieces and drew from his tag line, ‘Make every day a getaway’ to create a dreamy, playful, super sweet relaxing backyard hang a la Gray Malin.

Gray Malin, Poolside at the Beverly Hills Hotel

For the Parker series I was very literal with my decor inspiration. The cakes from Josephine LA bakery are modeled after the ones in the Picnic Party, as well as cake trays, and apothecary jars filled with candy. I used the Sweet tooth image as inspiration for the bar cart styling pulling directly with the different sized candy jars and the izze sodas in the ice bucket.

From the Beverly Hills series I used the color palette and vintage vibe as my inspiration. I pulled props like the backgammon set, the vintage radio, the pastel striped paper straws (covering the toothpicks on the burgers, nice touch by my husband), the throw pillows even match the bathing suit of one of the models and the lush greenery from the plants hanging on the back wall.

To me, if you are doing a poolside inspired backyard party, nothing goes better than some grilled sliders! We used brioche rolls for the buns and I think they look just adorable for a backyard lawn party- plus, they are easy to hold so you don’t need to crowd the table with plates and silverware. Also, how gorgeous are these blooms from Valley Brink Road!

I had these beautiful menu and coaster details made by my talented friend Angela from Fairly Modern Studio. Gray’s tag line is Make Every Day a Getaway so we decided to call the pergola ‘The Getaway’ and she created the menu and coasters calling in the blue stripe and the pale pastel pink again which I think just beautifully ties in the whole look from the Beverly Hills series, not to mention the dreamiest vintage font for the typography.

I am so so pleased with how this shoot turned out! It was SUCH a fun one for me! Not to worry, we had lots of hungry new moms to come over and enjoy all the treats!
