If you have ever met me you would know that I LOVE a good glass of wine. I also really love supporting community and give back where I can. I try to shop intentionally and support companies whose mission alines with my own. Most of my events have an aspect of giving back whether it is from the desserts, the design elements, or the wine. ONE HOPE has become my go to for entertaining, creating, and just enjoying at the end of the day. The wine is wonderful and for every bottle sold they donate a percentage to a different charity. When I found out that I could host a ONE HOPE wine tasting at my home to support a charity of my choice I was all about it.
As a new parent I have been truly in awe of how much love I have for my child and I would risk anything to make her life better. For this event I wanted to support This is About Humanity, a community dedicated to raising awareness about separated and reunified families and children at the U.S.-Mexico border. The This is About Humanity Fund at the International Community Foundation help support those individuals with essentials for living, access to legal services, mental wellness checkups, and other shelter projects. Inspired by the new community of families I had become a part of after having Poppy, I organized the event so that we could come together and support other families in need.
ONE HOPE sets you up with a Cause Entrepreneur (which I became after this event) who reaches out and gets to know about your wine tasting event. They suggest different wines and food that would pair well and come to your event to teach you about the wine. It can be as formal or informal as you would like. I went somewhere in between 😉
I chose a variety of wines at my Cause Entrepreneur’s suggestion and served some beautiful graze boards from Lady and Larder as well as some pressed flower sugar cookies from Loria Stern (she grows the flower in her garden and creates amazing baked goods that are sure to impress at any event).
Guests were gifted tote bags and candles from The Little Market collaboration with This is About Humanity. The Little Market is another wonderful company that was founded by women to empower women. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to the economic self-sufficiency of women worldwide through dignified income opportunities. The hand-poured candles were made by women refugees in the United States, and tote, hand-sewn by women in rural Bangladeshi communities. 50% of each purchase is donated to the This is About Humanity foundation. I also included the Coloring without Boarders coloring book which supports Families Belong Together which helps children separated from their families.
It was such a special evening to share with some wonderful new parents who were as excited to support the cause as I was. Check out the video below to learn more about ONE HOPE is doing and see clips of the wine tasting we had at The Fawn Project retreat!
Cheers and lots of love,
xx
